Insurgent, Insurgent by Veronica Roth, Divergent Part 2

Insurgent itself has an exceptional plot. Veronica Roth maintained the story moving forth.

Insurgent also has a movie based on it with the same Divergent cast.

If you're looking for a book series similar to this one, here's what you can read:

The Hunger Games

People suffering from injustice go through a lot more than one can possibly imagine. And when there is oppression as the simulation attack, it gets worse. One way or another, a dystopian community is always met with a revolution at the end.

That revolution is caused by people like Tris, most of the time who refuse to bow down to injustice but they have to pay a heavy price for it.

As it was seen, Tris lost her parents in the simulation attack. She stood up for what was right and she had to pay a price for it. Insurgent takes us further down the road, what happens now when everything is distorted and Tris is factionless.

INSURGENT BOOK SUMMARY:

No Spoilers!

Tris and Four along with Marcus and Caleb escape the Dauntless and Jeanine. They decide to take shelter in another faction and their best hope was Amity.

When they arrive, Johanna, the leader tells them that they can stay as long as they maintain peace and quiet. They don't want any kind of violence in their faction.

Tris whose still trying to recover from her parent's death and the fact that she killed Will hears Marcus talking to Johanna about some information that was given to Abnegation.

Abnegation runs the government as they are selfless so there won't be any corruption. Marcus says that the government was taking measures, what to do with the information, and then the simulation attack took place.

Unfortunately, Tris and Four along with Caleb and Susan ran away from the Amity place as Dauntless and Erudite came looking for them. (Susan is Tris's neighbor from Abnegation.)

They reach the train which is only used by the Dauntless. They find some factionless people on that train who ask them to leave. They try to explain but it's of no use until Four steps up and says his name.

Tris as confused as you are right now reaches the factionless headquarters and finds out something she had never imagined. To Tris and Four's surprise, factionless people are much more than they thought.

Anyone who left their faction ended up there and Dauntless are excluded from their faction after a certain age.

Tris and Four decided to visit the Candor faction where they come across Christina. Tris's best friend whom she betrayed by killing Will.

They are asked to take the truth serum to prove themselves as they were framed for running the simulation by Erudite and Tris confesses that she did in fact kill Will.

What will Tris do? How will she survive the loss and move forward? What does she need to do to set everything back?

INSURGENT BOOK QUOTES:

1. "Does everyone know that you're Marcus's son?" Caleb says. "The Abnegation, I mean?"
"Not to my knowledge," says Tobias, glancing at Caleb. "And I would appreciate it if you didn't mention it."
"I don't need to mention it. Anyone with eyes can see it for themselves." Caleb frowns at him. "How old are you, anyway?"
"Eighteen."
"And you don't think you're too old to be with my little sister?" Tobias lets out a short laugh. "She isn't your little anything."

(Chapter 2; Page 12)

2. "You are welcome to stay here if and only if you can abide by our rules," she says. "That is our decision." I think of the gun I hid under my mattress and the tension between me and Peter, and Tobias and Marcus, and my mouth feels dry. I am not good at avoiding conflict.
"We won't be able to stay long," I say to Tobias under my breath. A moment ago, he was faintly smiling. Now the corners of his mouth have disappeared into a frown.
"No, we won't."

(Chapter 2; Page 13)

3. "The peace serum," Johanna says. "In small doses, it has a mild calming effect and improves the mood. The only side effect is some slight dizziness. We administer it to members of our community who have trouble keeping the peace."
Tobias snorts. "I'm not an idiot. Every member of our community has trouble keeping the peace because they're all human. You probably dump it into the water supply."
Johanna does not respond for a few seconds. She folds her hands in front of her.

(Chapter 6; Page 26)

4. "Tris," says Caleb. 'You're still wearing gray." I pinch my father's shirt and hesitate.
"It's Dad's," I say. If I change out of it, I will have to leave it behind. I bite my lip so that the pain will steady me. I have to get rid of it. It's just a shirt. That's all it is.
"I'll put it on under mine," Caleb says.

(Chapter 7; Page 30)

5. He wears a red collared shirt and a pair of jeans that are fraying at the knee. The combination looks ridiculous on him.
"Nice shirt," I say. He wrinkles his nose at me. "It was the only thing that covered up the neck tattoo, okay?"

(Chapter 7; Page 30)

6. "Nice to meet you," I say. "You're Divergent," he says. "My mom said to stay away from you because you might be dangerous."
"Yeah. She's a big scary Divergent, and she's going to make your head explode with only the power of her brain," says Lynn.

(Chapter 14; Page 57)

A quote to remember:

“Like a wild animal, the truth is too powerful to remain caged.”
